To aid manufacturing companies in making a transition and capitalizing on this current challenge, the state has set out a Manufacturing Diversification Strategy.

If you are a manufacturing company looking to diversify into a new industry, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation^SM (MEDC), along with local economic development partners and state supported service providers, are offering opportunities for companies to get connected with:

• Significant information and industry experts related to the four growing industry sectors.
• Potential funding for company diversification efforts.
• Connections down the road with industry original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

HOW DOES MY COMPANY GET INVOLVED?

STEP 1:   MAKING THE CONNECTION POST SUMMIT

• Diversification Summits were held in 2009 with the final summit taking place on December 16, 2009.  If you missed the summits, you can still participate by contacting your MEDC Business Development Manager (BDM).

STEP 2:   POST SUMMIT PROCESS

• Contact your MEDC Business Development Manager
• Complete Diversification Survey

• Review and Recommendation by MEDC and Industry Experts

• Company capabilities assessment by Industry Experts

• Company negotiates and signs a training grant (see step 3)

• Company begins training 

 

STEP 3:   TRAINING GRANTS

• Develop and Implement Training Plan based on Menu of Services 

• Matchmaking Opportunities
