Michigan's Diversification Strategy
Making the Connection
To get connected to this opportunity, a company must attend one of the official Michigan Economic Development CorporationSM (MEDC) sponsored Diversification Summits being offered across the state. The goal of these summits is to connect auto suppliers and other manufacturers with not only the four targeted diversification industry experts, but also with Michigan companies who have successfully diversified their business.
Some basic information about the summits:
- The summits are one day events hosted on the third Wednesday of each month around the state over the course of the next year. They will be hosted by regional teams of local economic development partners that work closely with the MEDC on a daily basis to service the needs of companies.
- Summits are specifically geared for a company's top management to be in attendance.
- The day's events will include presentations from the industry experts and successfully diversified companies that will educate attendees about the opportunities of diversifying and what it takes to both make that decision and move through the process.
- The Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (MMTC) and the University of Michigan's "Surviving to Thriving Program," both of which help companies in market diversification, will also make presentations.
