Leader in Legal Technology Industry Set to Open New Location in Kalamazoo
Kalamazoo isn't just getting noticed for its innovative Kalamazoo Promise college scholarship program. After reviewing competing sites in several other states, Business Intelligence Associates Inc., an established leader in the information management and legal technology industry, determined that the Kalamazoo region was the perfect place to open its new location. The company said Kalamazoo provided the ideal blend of highly skilled labor, build-out opportunities and economic incentives. The New York-based company that helps organizations manage the collection, transfer and preservation of digital evidence and data, plans to invest approximately $8 million in the project, which is expected to create up to 599 Michigan jobs, including 251 directly by the company. An economic analysis estimates the project has the potential to generate an additional 348 indirect jobs. A state tax credit valued at $2.7 million over seven years helped convince the company to invest in Michigan over competing sites in New York, California, Washington and Missouri. To support the project, the city of Kalamazoo will provide assistance with recruitment, job placement and job training.
