Pure Michigan Business Connect (PMBC), a public-private initiative developed by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), connects Michigan companies with opportunities to help them grow and expand. By participating in the program, companies can find procurement resources to expand their supply chain, find new business opportunities, access a new business-to-business network and receive business assistance at little to no cost like legal, accounting, and other services.
Pure Michigan Business Connect – B2B Network
The PMBC business-to-business (B2B) network links Michigan companies with collaborators and private sector procurement opportunities. Companies such as DTE Energy and Consumers Energy have made major commitments to increase their procurement spending. Other companies are signing on with similar commitments. In addition, MEDC is working to recruit out-of-state businesses to explore supply chain opportunities with Michigan businesses. The system will enable posting of procurement opportunities, collaboration needs, and unique offers available to Michigan business accounts. As the B2B network grows, it will allow registered small businesses to use the system to support purchasing needs as well. Companies in the system can be both buyers and sellers in a truly dynamic online B2B marketplace.
The B2B portal is free to all Michigan businesses. Learn more about the program and register for the B2B system at www.puremichiganb2b.com.

In partnership with the Small Business & Technology Development Center (SBTDC), the PMBC program assists all small businesses – including entrepreneurs, business start-ups, and first and second stage companies – by connecting them to participating partners who are giving back to Michigan by providing pro bono professional services. These services include legal, accounting, web development, human resources, small business operations and planning as well as other services that will be coming on line in the future.

- Complete the few additional questions at the header of the services intake section, select what service(s) your company is requesting, and submit.

Pure Michigan Business Connect – Procurement
Overview
This initiative focuses on growing procurement dollars sourced within the state of Michigan to Michigan businesses. Research has shown that one job is created for every $200,000 of increased procurement in Michigan supply chains. The program works to attract procurement leads from both in and outside of Michigan and utilizes a strong network of MEDC partner organizations to match these needs with potential Michigan suppliers. These partners include Connection Point (powered by the Detroit Regional Chamber), the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center, the Michigan Manufacturers Association and other local economic development organizations. PMBC can help open the door to competitive suppliers previously unidentified by current procurement processes. MEDC and its affiliated organizations have developed programs and processes to facilitate supplier identification for individual items or broader needs across an entire product line.
Connection Point And Supplier Events
MEDC has partnered with Connection Point (powered by the Detroit Regional Chamber) to host a series of supplier events with both out-of-state and Michigan companies. The program identifies and develops new business opportunities for Michigan companies ready to enter into new markets. The Connection Point team finds these opportunities by constantly working to build relationships with buyers, engineers, program managers and small business liaisons at global corporations. When a supply chain team’s needs align with a Michigan supplier’s capabilities, they facilitate introductions that explore:
- Direct component or service sourcing
- Indirect component or service sourcing
- RFP Invitations
- Exporting Opportunities
- R&D Partnerships
- Innovative Collaborations
